In 1972 in a small town in Mississippi a pivotal event occurred. Three
churches in Hattiesburg decided they could no longer ignore the spiritual needs
of the students at the University of Southern Mississippi, so they combined
resources and hired a man to serve as their minister to that campus. Thus was
born Reformed University Fellowship.
Fast-forward 26 years. David Green had been ministering at Lehigh University
since 1986, but his presence from 1996 to 98 was diminished while completing his
Masters of Divinity degree. In 1998, at the encouragement of Lehigh Valley Presbyterian
Church, David returned to full-time ministry at Lehigh. In 1999 David was called
and ordained to minister with Reformed University Fellowship (RUF) at Lehigh
University. Now he and his wife, Ruth (a Lehigh alum.), are reaching out to
Lehigh students through Bible studies, counseling, and hospitality.
From a small but strong beginning with five students in 1998, RUF at Lehigh
University is presently reaching over 100 students, including some in
fraternities, sports, and performing arts groups. By God's grace we are making a major impact on the
campus. This is an exciting opportunity to shape the direction of our country,
as we influence students who will become leaders in their churches and
communities.
